STMA: Trustworthy

Men, this one is for us.

I Corinthians 4:1-2

Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy.

Think about all that you are a steward of:

Here’s a quick refresher on the word steward: a person who manages another’s property or financial affairs; one who administers anything as the agent of another or others.

Everything we have is “on loan” from the Creator. We’re going to give an account (Romans 14:12) of everything we do with anything… and something tells me we won’t be pulling the wool over God’s eyes about the times we were short with our wives, or lived double lives, or didn’t pay our tithes - He knows it. Paul writes in the passage above that stewards are required to be trustworthy. That means that we have to be truthful with ourselves when we take action. We remind ourselves that none of this is ours. It’s His, to His glory (Romans 11:36). God has trusted us with His very image and His whole creation - let us spend our lives (Romans 12:1) to make that trust worthwhile.
