1. Because God said so (Matthew 5:28).
2. Because it makes you less of a man.

I thought it was great that a blog like Art of Manliness posted what they did about pornography. While the author would not agree with reason number 1 above - he writes, “it transforms porn into an even more desirable forbidden fruit… and prevents men from being honest in their need for help” - he does present a lot of good arguments and he’s certainly on the mark in his conclusion, if slightly indecisive - “I don’t think porn is good in any setting.”

There is a very interesting quote which for a long time I mistakenly believed was from Stephen Hawking; it is actually from Robert Jastrow’s book God and the Astronomers. Jastrow writes about the Big Bang theory, “For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountain of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries.” I bring this quote up because I am hopeful that social science will someday realize how right God’s Word is about sexuality, manliness, life…. I Corinthians 2:14, among other verses, tempers my hope; I know that God’s way is foolishness to men, but His way is right and true.
