This quote popped up in the Quotes of the Day widget on my iGoogle start page… it goes very well with my post from yesterday .

It is often a kind of innocent pride, and the man of genius and the aristocrat are frequently regarded as eccentrics because genius and aristocrat are entirely unafraid of and uninfluenced by the opinions and vagaries of the crowd.” -Edith Sitwell

It should be more common among Christians that we are “entirely unafraid of and uninfluenced by the opinions and vagaries of the crowd.” It is true that we must interact with this world, for we are in it, but we are not of this world (John 15:19). We must be eccentric and unconventional by this world’s standards if we would be men.
