I Corinthians 3 §

Paul chastises the church at Corinth for remaining infants in Christ, not because they have not learned about God and Jesus, but because they have “enmity and strife” (verse 3). When we disciple, are we worried about knowledge? Skills? Character? Whether they love God and love people? How much of my Christianity is focused on making me better, instead of making me dead (Galatians 6:14; Colossians 2:20; Romans 6:2, 7, 11, etc)? How much of me making myself better can really be called worship?

and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.

I Corinthians 3:23

II Chronicles 7 §

The people astonished at the fall of Israel will not say, “because the LORD abandoned them,” but rather “because they abandoned the LORD” (verse 22).

II Chronicles 8 §

It’s interesting that Solomon thought nothing of marrying Pharoh’s daughter, but would not let her live in the house that David built because she was a foreigner and the house was holy. How is it ok to let her into his bed but not his house?

Three feasts in a year; three times a year the entire people of Israel is meant to come together.

II Chronicles 9 §

The queen of Sheba comes to see Solomon and his riches, and her assessment is this:

Blessed be the LORD your God, who has delighted in you and set you on his throne as king for the LORD your God! Because your God loved Israel and would establish them forever, he has made you king over them, that you may execute justice and righteousness.

II Chronicles 9:8

Solomon is king so that he may execute justice and righteousness. That is the mission for which God placed him on the throne. What reason has God placed you in whatever positions of leadership, mentorship, or authority you hold?
