II Corinthians 6:3-18 §
Paul has a serious definition of endurance (verse 4-5). How am I expressing my rights in a way that is an obstacle to others, instead of enduring as he did?
II Corinthians 7 §
As it is, I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved into repenting….
II Corinthians 7:9
LORD, do not spare me the grief that leads to repentance.
Nehemiah 9 §
Three hours reading the Law, and three hours confessing sin and worshiping God. What would happen in your church if you tried to confess and worship the LORD for three hours, right after three hours of readings and sermons? I don’t know many churches that would survive that.
Whenever I read about the pillar of cloud and the pillar of fire, I always wonder what the “inhabitants of the land” had that was better than that. Why did they not turn and worship God?
Nehemiah 10 §
It’s kind of sad that the revival (what else to call it?) that takes place in these chapters is so doomed. The people of Judah (Israel) try time and time again to make a covenant that they will be able to follow, to keep God’s laws. It never works. We are not good people. There is no such thing. We need Jesus.
… We will not neglect the house of our God.
Nehemiah 10:39
