STMA: Quiet Time

Where does John the Baptist get the idea of baptism?

…“The time is fulfilled; and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel."
Mark 1:15

And then:

…“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
Mark 1:17

And more:

Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I will; be clean."
Mark 1:41

This has to be the weirdest metaphor in Scripture: the people of Israel as a loincloth (verse 11).

Drunkenness leads to dashing against one another (verses 13-14).
